The Department of Basic Dental Sciences is one of the main pillars upon which clinical dental education is based. The department provides an outstanding level of education to dental students. This includes specializations in:

Prosthetic Dentistry

The main objective of the Department of Prosthetic dentistry (also known as prosthodontics) is to provide an outstanding level of education and training of dental students, residents, and graduate students in the field of restoration of damaged dentition back to the normal function, esthetic, and health through the application of the most up-to-date clinical evidence in the field of dental implantation and related sciences. This includes specializations in:

  • Removable Prosthodontics.
  • Fixed prosthodontics.
  • Occlusion.
  • Dental Biomaterials.

Conservative Dentistry

The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics deals with conservation of teeth by means of operative dentistry and endodontics. The department provides courses to dentistry students and graduate students, and it is equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment to perform the most up-to-date procedure for dental conservation and endodontics.

This includes specializations in:

    • Operative Dentistry.
    • Endodontics.

 

Oral Surgery

The Department of Oral Surgery provides top level of education and training for students and residents in the field of surgical management of different oral, dental, and maxillofacial lesions,  methodologies, anesthesiology and other related fields. The labs of the department are equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment to perform such surgeries and procedure.

This includes specializations in:

  • Oral Surgery and Anesthesia
  • Implantology

 

Orthodontics and Pedodontics

The Department of Orthodontics and Pedodontics provides high-standard education and training for students and residents in the fields of orthodontics (wires, ligatures, expanders, braces, impressions, etc.) and pediatric dentistry (etiology, pathology, diagnosis, and treatment).

This includes specializations in:

1. Orthodontics

2. Pedodontics

3. Preventive Dental Medicine and public health

Oral Medicine, Periodontology, Diagnosis and Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology

The Department provides an outstanding level of education and training for students and residents to treat diseases of the mouth, maxillofacial, dental, and periodontal tissues in addition to radiology and other oral and maxillofacial diagnostic tools. 

This includes specializations in:

  • Periodontics.
  • Oral Diagnosis.
  • Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology
