Counseling & Mental Health

Who we are?

We want to support you every step of the way on your journey with us. We understand that navigating academic or personal challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming, and talking about your concerns can make a profound difference. While friends, family, or faculty members are excellent sources of support, it can be uniquely beneficial to speak with an impartial, experienced counselor who is completely outside of the situation and who brings specialized expertise in navigating similar challenges.

Why Counseling?

The Student Counseling Service focuses primarily on solution-focused, short-term support designed to help individuals successfully navigate and overcome immediate academic or personal obstacles. For students requiring specialized, long-term therapeutic care, our service provides initial assessments and assists in coordinating external professional resources.

How We Can Help?

Deraya University offers specialized Counseling & Mental Health Services led by an expert counselor experienced in addressing a wide spectrum of mental health topics. Our Student Counseling Service provides a unique opportunity to discuss your personal concerns with a seasoned professional, offering an objective perspective that differs from talking to someone you know. Backed by years of clinical experience, our service is committed to providing a fully supportive, safe, and strictly confidential environment for every student.

Counseling Center services

  • Provide appropriate advice and counsel for students suffering from mental health issues.
  • Assess the mental health of students seeking help and inform instructors of any special requirements to accommodate such students.
  • Refer cases requiring medical attention to the university clinic or university psychiatrist for medical care.

How to Book an Appointment

Deraya is able to offer mental health counseling through a strategic partnership with a consultant psychiatrist at Minya University Hospital. All appointments are booked through the Counseling Center, which will confirm the date and location that works best for you (on campus or at the partner clinic). Everything you share is kept strictly confidential and is only shared with instructors if you agree to specific academic accommodations.

If you or someone you know needs urgent support, please contact the University Hotline: 16283.
