Deraya operates within a framework of the Egyptian Presidential Decree number 91 as a not-for-profit higher education institution supervised and regulated by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education.
The Governmental oversight of Deraya University is provided through the Egyptian Council of Private Universities which is chaired by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Deraya also plans to seek further accreditation from relevant national, regional, and international bodies.
The presidential decree permits the establishment of 10 colleges: Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing, Business Administration, Physical Therapy, Tourism and Hospitality, Dentistry, Media, Arts and Design, and Languages.
So far, four faculties have been inaugurated:
College of Pharmacy:
Established by Ministerial Decree No. 376 on 17/2/2015, with studies beginning in the second semester of the 2014/2015 academic year.
- Two bachelor’s degree programs are available: PharmD & PharmD Clinical.
- At the master’s level, a program in Pharmaceutical Sciences specializing in Pharmaceutical Chemistry is available
College of Physical Therapy:
- Established by Ministerial Decree No. 3238 on 18/8/2015, with studies beginning in the first semester of the 2015/2016 academic year.
- Two master’s degree programs are available in Orthopedics & Basic Sciences.
College of Dentistry:
Established by Ministerial Decree No. 5099 on 5/11/2020, with studies beginning in the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.
College of Business Administration:
Established by Ministerial Decree No. 453 on 10/2/2021, with studies beginning in the second semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.
Accreditation and Quality Assurance unit
Deraya University is constantly ensuring that the university colleges are ready for accreditation and quality requirements, therefore, the University-wide Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center has been activated, and it works for;
- Maintain all records related to accreditation, licensure, and quality assurance for the university.
- Assist colleges in securing accreditation and preparing self-study reports.
- Organize seminars and short courses to support a culture of quality assurance in education across the university
