Deraya’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative Winners Announced

Innovative thinking is one of the uttermost qualities that Deraya University strive to inculcate in its students. Hence, Deraya University announced its first ever Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative for its students with a grand prize of 50,000 EGP.

The initiative encouraged students to come up with their own startup ideas, which include developing a unique product or service and bring it to market.

Amira Ali Gabr, a 5th year student in the faculty of Physiotherapy, secured the first place in Deraya’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative, for inventing a supportive suit that correct posture and avoid neck and back pain while setting down.

Moreover, three more participants in the initiative won 5000 EGP/each, and were honored by the deans of the faculties of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Physiotherapy, for their superb work on conducting feasibility studies on their startup ideas. Those winners are:

  • Mohamed Mahmoud Ali – 5th year student at the faculty of Physiotherapy.
  • Hager Ragab Refaay – 2020 graduate of the faculty of Physiotherapy.
  • Mohamed Mostafa Mohamed – 2020 graduate of the faculty of Pharmacy.

Deraya University, being an innovative university in the heart of Upper Egypt, encourages its students to think innovatively, constantly develop their talents, and improve their set of skills while still at the University in order to be prepared for the job market challenges.
